Bikingside   –  Urban installation in London, 2013

Liddicoat & Goldhill

Bikingside is a project run by the Mayor of London and forms part of the outer London fund. The project carried out in collaboration with Killing Architects will create a series of cyclists’ ‘pit-stops’ in and around Barkingside, to better serve the town’s existing cyclists and to encourage a few more to join their ranks. The pit-stops would be aimed at the full range of local cyclists, whether recreational, competitive or commuters. They would offer facilities such as parking, pumps for tyres, space to repair punctures, as well as the chance to grab a coffee en route. Transport for London has identified a lack of facilities and poor wayfinding as physical barriers to cycling and we hope to be able to address this within Barkingside.
